About

Meet people the way you always did — by turning up somewhere.

MeetopiaHQ is a social experience platform in Sri Lanka. Instead of swiping through profiles, you browse real events — concerts, food crawls, hikes, workshops, group outings — and meet the people who show up.

Why it works this way

Four decisions that shape everything else

It starts with a plan, not a profile

Every listing is a real event with a date, a place and a number of seats. You decide whether the evening sounds worth your time before you decide anything about the people going. That is a much easier first question to answer.

Hosts choose who comes

For personal events the host reviews each request and accepts or declines it. Small groups stay small and stay intentional, and nobody arrives to a room that has already turned into something else.

A small fee keeps it honest

Personal events run on coins. When you request a spot your coins are held in escrow — charged only if the host accepts you, refunded in full if they decline, if the request expires, or if you cancel in time. It costs nothing to be turned down, and something to waste someone's evening.

Identity unlocks in stages

Profiles are rich, but the exact meeting address and the group chat stay locked until a host accepts you. Surnames are never shown. Accounts can be verified, and hosts and guests review each other afterwards, so a trust score is built from turning up and behaving well.

Ways in

Three kinds of thing to do

Ticketed events

Concerts, festivals, parties and workshops run by organisations. Pay in rupees, get a QR e-ticket, scan it at the door.

Group experiences

Food crawls, movie nights, hikes, sports and open outings — a handful of people around something you already enjoy.

Host your own

Any verified account can publish an event. You set what it is, when, where, the price and how many people can come.

Where

Built for Sri Lanka

MeetopiaHQ operates in Sri Lanka. Most of what gets listed is in and around Colombo, with events across the rest of the island — beach parties in the south, hikes in the hills, festivals wherever they land.

Prices are in Sri Lankan rupees and tickets are paid for locally. If you are organising something and want it in front of people here, set up an organisation and start selling tickets.

The honest part

What this is not

It is not a dating app with a coat of paint. Some categories are one-on-one or group dates and we do not pretend otherwise — but they are gated behind verification and an explicit opt-in, and they are a small part of what is listed. Most of the platform is open events anyone can attend.

It is also not a guarantee. We do not run background checks, and meetings happen in the real world between adults making their own decisions. Read the safety guidance before your first meetup — meet in public, tell a friend where you are going, arrange your own transport home.

Something is happening this week.

You do not need an account to look. Browse the listings and see whether anything is worth your Saturday.
