Privacy Policy

This explains what we collect, why, and your rights over it. We aim to align with Sri Lanka's Personal Data Protection Act No. 9 of 2022. This is a starting point and will be finalised with legal counsel before wider launch.

What we collect

• Account: name, email, password (stored only as a secure hash), and how you signed up.
• Profile: age, gender, city, bio, occupation, interests, and other details you choose to add.
• Activity: events you host or join, join requests, messages within event chats, coin transactions, and reviews.
• Technical: basic device and log data needed to run and secure the service.

How we use it

• To run the core experience — showing events, matching requests, enabling chat once you're accepted, and handling coins.
• To keep the community safe — reviewing reports and preventing abuse.
• To notify you — in-app and, if you opt in, via push notifications.

We do not sell your personal data.

Sensitive information

Some profile details you share may be sensitive. You choose what to add, and you can edit or remove it at any time. Please don't share more than you're comfortable being visible to people you might meet.

Who can see what

Your profile and events are visible to other members. Event chat is private to the host and accepted participants only — you can only message someone after a request is accepted. Your email, password, and coin balance are never shown to others.

Your rights

You can access, correct, or delete your data. Editing your profile updates it immediately; deleting your account removes your personal data, subject to any records we must keep for legal or safety reasons. To make a request, contact us at privacy@meetopiahq.com.

Push notifications

Push notifications are off until you enable them, and you can turn them off any time from the notification menu or your browser settings.

Changes

We may update this policy; significant changes will be communicated in the app.
